GPC Opt-Outs & Email Updates

More from the Superset Product Roadmap

GPC Opt-Out Module live in Superset

GPC (Global Privacy Control) is a new setting in some web browsers that signals a users preference preserve their privacy. Several states are now mandating that businesses accept these signals as opt-out of the sale and sharing of data requests.

What does this mean for your business? A few things

1) If you have cookies or trackers on your website, those trackers should not fire if the visitor has GPC enabled. What’s more - you should technically also acknowledge that their GPC Signal has been honored.

2) If you have any way of identifying your “anonymous” website visitors by IP Addresses, Cookies, or any other means, and they have GPC enabled you need to treat that signal as a full opt-out request.

3) If you have a website where you can identify the user some other way like logging in with email and they have GPC enabled, you need to treat that signal as a full opt-out request as well.

Superset now supports testing your website for #1 & tracking web visitors for #2 in our new GPC module you can test out here: https://ai.trustsuperset.com/gpc

To satisfy requirement #3, we now also support pushing opt-out requests with the origin “gpc” via our API: https://docs.trustsuperset.com

Weekly/Daily Email Digests

Tired of checking if you have any Data Subject Requests that need attention? Wonder no more!

We’re shipping an email digest with a daily/weekly summary of the Data Subject Requests processed that day/week and notifying you how many requests need attention.

We’ll be enabling the weekly reports for all users that don’t set it up themselves this week. You can always turn them off or change the frequency in your user settings here: https://ai.trustsuperset.com/settings/user

DROP IS COMING!!!

As a reminder, CA’s DROP system goes live August 1st!

The fines are legitimately insane. Like up to $40 Million per day for non-compliance!

Superset will be offering a new DROP module to handle the reading from and reporting back to the DROP database in the coming weeks as the DROP sandbox is released.

⚠️ Reminder: You will still need to update your consumer databases to conform to California’s new standardization rules. Those who need a refresher can check out this article: https://trustsuperset.com/post/what-is-the-california-drop-system
